The actress rented the three-bedroom house in Toronto’s Seaton Village for at least two years while filming Suits in the Canadian city. The home also boasts a secluded backyard, where Toronto Home Where Meghan Markle reportedly hosted barbecues for friends and kept a kennel for her two rescue dogs, Bogart and Guy.
This is the second time the property has been on the market since Markle’s residency. It sold for $1.6 million in 2018 and is currently listed at $1.9 million CAD.
Markle was living in this home when she met and fell in love with Prince Harry in 2016. During her time there, the California native sought to infuse the space with West Coast charm. In a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that she exposed the hardwood floors and welcomed as much natural light as possible.
When she first relocated to Toronto from California, Markle quickly grew fond of the city. In a 2016 interview with Best Health, she said, “[Toronto] is like my home. At the onset, I didn’t know what to expect, but everyone has been so welcoming. The people are so kind, I love the food scene, and I really love exploring little nooks around the city with my two dogs.”
However, Markle’s life in Toronto became increasingly challenging once rumors about her relationship with Prince Harry began to circulate. As she later shared in the 2022 Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, her home became a target for British paparazzi.
“It felt like all of the UK media descended upon Toronto,” Markle recounted in the documentary.
She described how her neighbors informed her via text messages, saying, “They’re knocking on everyone’s door, they are trying to find you.” She also claimed that some neighbors had been paid to film her backyard.
“My house was just surrounded,” she added. “Just men sitting in their cars all the time waiting for me to do anything.”
Toronto Home Where Meghan Markle mentioned that the Toronto police were unable to offer her protection. “I would say to the police, ‘If any other woman in Toronto said to you I have six grown men who are sleeping in their cars around my house who follow me everywhere that I go and I feel scared, wouldn’t you say that it was stalking?’” she said. “And they said, ‘Yes, but there’s really nothing we can do because of who you’re dating.'”
Markle left the Toronto home in 2017 when she moved to London to be closer to Prince Harry. In 2020, they stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to the United States.
Toronto Home Where Meghan Markle ,Now free from royal life, the couple resides in a mansion in Montecito, California, a home that offers Markle a much-needed sense of peace. “We did everything we could to get this house,” she told The Cut in 2022. “Because you walk in and go… Joy. And exhale. And calm. It’s healing. You feel free.”
